Porotiti or Kororohu ,When the porotiti is played (by twirling the cord until it spins) it creates a humming sound .The kaitiaki (guardian) of the porotiti is Tawhirimatea, God of the Winds. The porotiti creates quiet, soft sounds and can also be worn as pendants.
Tawhirimatea ~ Maori God of the Wind and storms. Carved on a kauri table by Steve Wharehoka in the late 1980s. Tawhiri-Matea was the most like his sky father. He listened to no one and he needed no one to talk to. He was the brother no one trusted. One moment he would be quiet and the next minute he would leap up and tear around the world wrecking things as he went. It was his nature to be unpredictable. He came and went as he pleased.
