Sometimes you encounter a daguerreotype and you just want to concentrate on the person. This dreamy-eyed young lady has a face filled with expectation. To her life is a romance waiting to happen. At first sight I thought of Catherine Moreland. I hope her life was everything she dreamed it would be. Oh, those dreamy eyes!

Polonaise Gown with front closure. Based on a pattern drawn from original garments by Janet Arnold, this gown dates from 1770-1780. The gown and skirt are fully lined, the top petticoat is unlined. The gown has sleeves to just below the elbow and optional sleeve frills, (engageants). The skirt is gathered with cartridge pleats and has two cords attached on the inside which are used to loop up the skirt.
