America must wake up to the fact that what human spaceflight, an activity that many now define as a wasteful money-pit, gave this country the intellectual property that would result in tens of trillions of dollars in revenue for decades after the Apollo program…

Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at Kennedy Space Center | NASA - November 9, 1970: It was part of NASA's effort for the Apollo Program. Construction began 50 years ago on Aug. 2, 1963 & completed in 1965; 4,225 pilings were driven down 164 ft to bedrock with a foundation of 30,000 cubic yards concrete & construction of 98,590 tons steel. It was one of the largest buildings in the world: 129,428,000 cubic ft of interior volume (525 ft tall, 518 ft wide) & covered eight acres. The Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at NASA's Kennedy Space Center celebrates its 50th anniversary this month. After serving through the Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs, the mammoth structure now is undergoing renovations to accommodate future launch vehicles and to continue as a part of America's efforts to explore space for another 50 years.
