Your background fabric doesn't need to be white, beige or even just one color. I often make mine scrappy. But there are some important things to consider when deciding what to use. I realize that this is NOT a news flash, but I've been playing with scraps again. Ha! It's messy work, but someone has to do it! I made these banner blocks for the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild.
