Manhole cover ideas

Hello - I am doing a design for a very small garden with a large manhole cover just to the left of a back door, in a shady paved area between house extension and shed. My clients would like to cover it up if possible. Using decking would not work I think because of the shade. Gravel might help though I wouldn't be putting gravel over the rest of it. Pots can't go over it because it's in the direction of the garden. Does anyone have any ideas? Artificial grass?? Jane
