Bauhaus celebrates its centenary in April 2019. We visit the homes and factories that became the landmarks of Walter Gropius's modernist design movement

Walter Gropius designed House Gropius in 1926 in Dessau, Germany, as part of the Bauhaus faculty housing. This iconic structure embodies Bauhaus principles: functionality, simplicity, and modern materials like steel and glass. Its geometric forms, asymmetric layout, flat roofs, open floor plan, and large windows broke from traditional German architecture. The house served as Gropius's residence and a showcase of Bauhaus ideals, integrating art, technology, and industry.
