"Grinling Gibbons: 'The Michelangelo of Wood'" from English Historical Fiction Authors - Gibbons was a 17th century English woodcarver whose work was appreciated by the likes of John Evelyn and Sir Christopher Wren...even King Charles II himself. This wooden "cravat" was one of his pieces and it's extraordinary in its fine detail and imitation of lace.
