The rear garden consists of a large entertaining area paved with random-cut Castlemaine slate. Four linden trees (*Tilia cordata*) punctuate the hard surface, framing views from the house into the garden.
Space saving stairs made like butcherblock with strips of wood glued together. The diagonally shaped risers and treads, while arresting in appearance, would be difficult to negotiate for all but the most agile. Obviously not installed in the US since the stairs break every code in the book!
