Button jar pin cushions I made this week for my upcycling workshop. There's something very appealing about old jars filled with buttons. Collecting a homemade bunch of flowers for a friend? Pop them in a recycled tin can for a handy portable vase. Ideal when taking flowers to give to loved ones in hospital - where there are never enough vases! Simply remove the tin can's label and wash it out. Add a piece of ribbon around the middle for extra embellishment if you wish.

Reclaim a boring old mirror with this simple upcycling project. STEP 1: Remove the mirror from the frame. STEP 2: Lightly sand or clean the frame as necessary. STEP 3: Undercoat the frame and allow to dry. STEP 4: Topcoat with metallic paint. I used a silver paint from Resene's metallic range. Allow to dry and re-assemble. And you're done!
