Black and White House

Our concept was to generate contrast by opposing a traditional gable roof building with a new flat roof extension. The existing building was converted to bedrooms, and the roof replaced with exposed gable ends. Our extension, to the north, is an open plan block with space for kitchen, dining and living room, with storage and a garage in the basement below. The different functions, shapes and colours of the two volumes creates a tension, but also a sense of balance in the finished project.
