In ancient Chinese culture, lacquered red doors (called a vermillion gate) represented great wealth and luck. In modern living room culture, since the look proved popular with Pier 1 customers, we decided to add a teal theme to the painted wood and cotton canvas art—for good measure.
Zhuhai is located at the southern tip of the Pearl River Delta in Guandong province, opposite Hong Kong to the east across the sea, adjacent to Macau on the South, Xinhui and Taishan City on the west and Zhongshan City on the north. Zhuhai is one of five special economic zones in China and covers an area of 1,701 square kilometers. Zhuhai boasts a long coastline of 604 kilometers and 146 islands of different sizes, which has earned it its nickname of “City of Islands”.
