Letter Search- For this activity I had this foam alphabet puzzle that I got for 88 cents at Walmart:) and a dish of rice. I popped out all the letters and mixed them in with the rice. Students search for letters to match to the same in puzzle.

Name Soup ~ Same colored Bottle Lids (so they don't choose by color), Slotted Spoon, sturdy Tub with Water, Name Reference. On the top of bottle lids write the letters of their name in multiples. Also write their name on something for reference making sure to leave enough space between letters so top will fit easily. Later may try taking away Reference Name to see if they can still spell their name.

Write letters on bottlecaps and put in water table or bucket. Have children scoop out the letters they need for their names, book characters, colours, numbers etc. Great for motor skill development, letter awareness and fun!

Pasta as the "base"-- for a literacy center, the children need to find and scoop out the letters that spell their name, or sight words, or any number of creative things! If there are gluten intolerances in the class, be sure to use an alternative kind of pasta, or a different material entirely!!!
