1929, the stock market crashed, and billions of dollars were lost as investors traded 16,410,030 shares on the New York Stock Exchange in a single day. In the aftermath, America and the rest of the industrialized world spiraled downward into the Great Depression.
They only carry fair-trade products from artisans in Asia, Africa, Latin America & the Middle East. Ten Thousand Villages was also a founding member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). Their mission is "to create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products & stories to our markets through long-term fair trading relationships."
