When we look at the holistic wellness wheel our aim is to promote balance between the seven areas of life: emotional, social, occupational/financial, intellectual, physical, environmental and spiritual.
When you say "fist to five check" students rate their understanding by holding up the appropriate number of fingers. The goal is for everyone to be in the green. Great way for students to self-assess their understanding and help you to gauge student understanding.
This is a different way to use the stoplight. Use it as an exit slip. Students put their name on a sticky note and then place it on green (I've got it), Yellow (almost there) or Red (I still need help).
make one for each student and have it sit on the corner of their desk. It is small enough that it won’t be embarrassing for the student but it’s big enough that I can see at a glance who is having trouble with the topic and who is doing fine
