"Weekend": Academy Awards be damned. This was THE best film of 2011. It's become increasingly hard to be genuinely surprised by a film, especially this year, and this little film did just that for me. One of the most quietly romantic and moving love stories to come along in some time.

The film won much praise after premiering at the SXSW festival in the US, and was a success at the box office in the UK and the US, where it received a limited release.
A trailer for a nightmarish looking sci-fi horror thriller called Extraterrestrial has been released. The film was directed by the Vicious Brothers. Their last project was the 2011 indie horror flick Grave Encounters, which was actually a decent horror movie. The story follows a group of friends who head into the woods to stay in a cabin for a fun weekend. What they don't know is that it will be a lovely weekend of death after they witness a UFO crash nearby. When they go to check it…
