How to Wash a Down Comforter

Since down comforters are filled with feathers, special care must be taken when washing them. Unless they are dirty, wash down comforters no more than once a year. Machine drying a down comforter ~ After rinsing items completely -- either by hand or machine -- press out the water by hand, or use a washing machine's spin cycle (a top-loading machine is fine since it won't agitate while spinning). Do not wring. Tumble dry on low heat for a few hours, until completely dry. Adding several clean, dry towels will absorb moisture and speed the drying process...


Add these to the dryer after washing down comforters to FLUFF them up again, and redistribute the down... PS - this is working really, really well! I just keep a ball in the dryer at all times - and things are softer than ever! I throw a lavender sheet in there when I want some scent, and voila - soft and lovely smelling!
