Calling it “a local tattoo applied onto a universal design,” Spanish designer Alvaro Catalán de Ocón has conceived of a novel way to reinterpret a Mid-Century classic: via the Victorian art of needlepoint. The designer sought a way to transform a globally recognized object into a local, hand-crafted item, and settled upon the Eames Aluminum Chair, manufactured by Vitra, as his object of reinterpretation.
