Silk three-piece gown (skirt, day bodice, and evening bodice) with lace trim, ca. 1878. Greenish-gray and beige/sandy-colored silk, cream-colored lace and silk & velvet bows. Day bodice has knife-pleated ruffles, long lace sleeves with wide cuffs. Evening bodice has light pink silk trim. Skirt has draped apron-style front, bustle back, 21" long train, and knife-pleated ruffles on hem and train.
Sprinkle a baking sheet with cornmeal. Gently transfer the risen loaves to the baking sheet, placing them seam-side down on the cornmeal. Make several diagonal slashes in the loaf with a serrated knife or razor blade.
