Origin: England/Ireland A fine Victorian sewing (or work) table adorned with mother-of-pearl inlay and papier-mché of Windsor Castle, using period wallpaper. The octagonal table has a fitted interior of velvet and silk and is set upon scrolled feet. These special tables for embroidery and needlework were introduced during the second half of the 18th century and became quite fashionable during the Victorian era. Today, finding a work table in such good condition is a rarity. Circa 1855.
