In The Netherlands there are hundreds of empty churches which have altered their function and are now given a new program, such is the case with St. Jakobus in Utrecht. The purpose of the re-use of the church was to re-evaluate this distinguished monument with as little architectural interventions as possible to transform it into a spacious residence.
This is an old post but I must have missed it! This beautiful church renovation in Kyloe, Northumberland was purchased and renovated to be a home. The folks spent about £92,000 ($142,500) to purchase it, £300,000 ($465,000) renovating it but have now built its value up to an estimated £650,000 ($1,007,000). Amazing!
