Very drought tolerant, low-growing Elfin Thyme (Thymus serpyllum) forms a tight solid mat of green foliage that blooms with light pink flowers in summer. The sun-loving plant is a vigorous creeper that stands up to foot traffic. And, did I mention the scent?
Elfin Thyme is easy to grow in the right conditions. It grows best in light, dry, well-drained soil and full sun. A little shade is okay. Elfin forms a dense mat making it an excellent selection as a groundcover. It is also ideal for planting between the gaps of stepping or paving stones.
