Kumonosu-jô (Throne of Blood), 1957 (dir. Akira Kurosawa)
Throne of Blood: A war-hardened general, egged on by his ambitious wife, works to fulfill a prophecy that he would become lord of Spider's Web Castle.
Akira Kurosawa's Macbeth: haunting, horrific, masterfully acted, shot and directed. I couldn't ask for anything less from Kurosawa's treatment of this story, and his wonderful cast and crew delivered.

“She was fire, and light, and ash, and embers. She was Aelin Fireheart, and she bowed for no one and nothing, save the crown that was hers by blood and survival and triumph.”
