"The Old Man and the Old Moon" set. Patricia said she loved the style of this for the play. It might be a little too rustic for a NYC apartment but I get the 'storytelling' style of it. It would work well in our black box theater.
All parts of this design have been created so that the audience can see each aspect of the stage. The color pallet used is very calming, which for someone starring at it for a couple of hours would be a blessing. The range of tone stops any piece from disappearing into the background.
Costume design by Giorgio De Chirico: Italian painter, writer, theatre designer, sculptor and printmaker. De Chirico was one of the originators of Pittura Metafisica. His paintings are characterized by a visionary, poetic use of imagery, in which themes such as nostalgia, enigma and myth are explored. He was an important source of inspiration for artists throughout Europe in the inter-war years and again for a new generation of painters in the 1980s.
