Great tip! They mounted the blinds higher on the window. Then used a little board between to make the middle trim appear to go all the way up and therefore the window looks taller. When totally open the whole window is open and all the light comes in. (This pic is before the little faux trim piece is added, click to see the blog) Excellent idea!
Handy Shelf - The kitchen windowsill is a great place to set plants and a few favorite pieces of pottery, but the sill usually isn't very deep, and the items are in the way if you want to open the window. This homeowner came up with the great idea of mounting a shelf right on the molding around the window. Now there's a deeper shelf to display items, but the window can still be opened.
