Cooling chickens in extreme heat. The bricks get cool from the water and then the chickens get cool from standing on the bricks. I froze disposable aluminum cake pans of water. In the morning I just pop one out, it's basically an ice brick, and put it under the bricks with some water. When I come back in the afternoon there is still some ice left on the ice brick and the water is nice and chilly and the bricks are cool. And so are the chickens . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4gtc07kmD0
Don't like your dark red fireplace? White-Wash the brick!! "Super easy. You just water down paint and paint it on. I would paint a small section then wipe it off a bit with a rag. It took a couple hours. Not bad." -- Amber Dickey Photo Awesome job and a great way to lighten up a room and add a fresh look to an old fireplace. Thanks for sharing Amber!

Sun Bricks are solar powered outdoor light fixtures that can be built into a brick or stone walkway. Unlike traditional outdoor lights, sun bricks are designed to be flush with the ground, giving the effect of an illuminated pathway, rather than a path that is flanked by lights. All their power is generated by the sun. These solar panels can provide an 8-hour charge to the bricks' amber LED.
DIY painted rock fireplace. I updated our rock fireplace last weekend. It was 70's brown stone and I wanted to lighten it up to better match our walls, which we were painting grey. It only took about 2 hours and less than $15 to do. I made a simple mix of grey acrylic paint (found at Michaels for .75 ea. (took 3 bottles total) and a little water. Sponged it over the brick (left mortar dark grey) and sealed it with a $10 gallon of masonry seal (found at home depot).
I'm training for a 5K. Please pick your chin up off the floor. It's true. And I'm just as surprised as you are. I'm using an app called "Couch to 5k." Have you ever heard of it? It's designed to get you off the couch (preferably one as beautiful as the couch from the Southern Living House Tour). You walk 4 minutes and then you run a minute and then you walk two minutes....and on and on and on for about half an hour. When I start I pretend like I'm in a m...
