I think the politicians' salary/pension should be $38,000. Pay our veterans the six-figure pensions -- whatever they're paid, it isn't enough. In the unlikely event that a politician lives on said $38,000 -- without revenue from their law firms, stocks/bonds, big ticket speaking engagements, family money and the like -- getting by on an "average American salary" -- maybe then they'll be qualified to govern. Just my humble opinion.
