The hand of Divine Providence in the life of St. Edith Stein (St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross). There are three distinct events in the life of Edith Stein that she marks as special moments of grace which stirred her soul and left her a changed person, which ultimately led her to willingly offer her life to God as a martyr.
St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein) was a brilliant philosopher. She stopped believing in God at 14. Through study of philosophy she grew into a woman of integrity and intelligence, following the truth wherever it led her. She came across the autobiography of St. Teresa of Avila, which she read all in one night, and upon finishing exclaimed, “This is the Truth!” This began a spiritual journey that led to her to being baptized Catholic. She later became a Carmelite nun.
