### Cube Root

Cubed Root: Find the prime factors of the number under the radical; look for groups of 3 of the same number, like 3 - 2's (cubed root of 8) to take out of the radical; if negative, can factor out the -1

Algebra 2 Idea: Design a picture using Piecewise Functions - maybe use toward the end of the year and require that all function types studied be included!

Cute idea... good way to get them to learn square roots without them knowing it because they know the numbers under the post its! It is very inexpensive and not at all time consuming to make. The only problem I can think of with this would be the postit notes loosing their ability to stick onto the clock's face.

My kids never quite grasped that to find one side of a square you need to find the square root of the area... I like this for them! :)

### Babylon and the Square Root of 2

The Babylonians knew an amazingly good approximation to the square root of 2 back around 1700 BC. But did they know it was just an approximation?

square root of negative one teach math: Airplane Method for Factoring..this is a new one for me, very cool
