I do not believe that giving students a list of words and telling them to memorize it for a test is super effective. I think this spelling activity would encourage students to make relationship to the words, while reinforcing some vocabulary as well.

This sand box (in a pencil box) activity can be used to make informal assessments/therapy sessions fun. When the school-based SLP is assessing baselines for a group, this is beneficial because instead of waiting to hear what each student knows one by one, the sand boxes can be used to write all their answers in at once. This could be used for multiple objectives and even some assessments (informal mostly).
