DIY Homemade Candles

DIY Homemade Candles (with natural lavender-rosemary scent): 4 cups* soy flakes 2 wicks with a metal base 30 drops each per candle: lavender essential oil & rosemary essential oil 2 jars 1 tsp dried rosemary, per candle 1 tsp dried lavender buds, per candle 1 double-boiler, skewer, chop-stick for stirring wax 2 large clothespins 2 washcloths for each jar

To get started: 1) Place the dried lavender and essential oil into the jar. 2) Bring your water to a boil, then reduce the heat and add soy flakes. Stir the flakes every minute—you’ll see them reduced to a liquid. 3) Turn off the heat, then dip the metal end of the wick into the wax. 4) Place the end in the center of the jar and secure it at the bottom by pressing down with a skewer or chopstick until set. Straighten the wick and secure it with a clothespin at the jar’s opening (like shown).
