Rembrandt: Simeon's Song of Praise. Currently at the De Young Museum. A private moment in a public space, this painting is masterful in its staging and narrative story telling. I love all the faces, from Simeon's rapture, to the look of jealous incredulity on the stranger's faces, to even the face of the baby Jesus with his prescient self-knowledge.
O Sanctissima - Catholic Hymns, Songs of Praise-My favorite frame is the last one with the Angel Gabriel, ever the gentleman, presenting the Blessed Virgin Mary [a flower] announcing that she will bring forth God the Son into the world. He seems in awe of her- the New Testament Ark of the Covenant. Mary responds, "Be it done to me according to your word." She says "yes" to Jesus!
May you awaken to the divine power of a grateful heart. May you know there's victory in praise and breakthrough in thanksgiving! When you stomp your feet, raise your hands, and sing a song of praise, the enemy scurries away, covers his ears, and his plans come to nothing. With God on your side you have all you need to win your battles and grown in love. Susie Larson
