I cannot tell you how poisonous this doctrine is to a society. It's not about anyone being entitled to someone else's money, it's about recognizing that people are born into a variety of circumstance, some more fortunate than others, and creating equal opportunity involves shared responsibility. Helping your neighbor have the opportunity to provide for himself (and in turn, help others) benefits everyone.
