Shingles is caused by the same kind of virus that causes chickenpox. Medically, shingles is not contagious. However, a person infected with shingles can transmit the virus to others. Blistering rash usually lasts 2-4 weeks. While there is no complete shingles relief, there are some common home remedies to help relieve pain and shorten the duration of symptoms.
