Michigan - Dathan Ritzenhein ("Ritz") emerged as a cult figure among high school track fans during his junior and senior years at Rockford High School in Michigan. He set numerous state and national high school records during this time, notably in the 1600m, 3200m and in the 5000m . In the 2008 Olympic Marathon, Ritzenhein was the first American Runner to cross the finish line. He has continued to compete including on August 4, 2012, at the 2012 London Olympics.
