Koko Loko - So unusual…it looks good enough to eat…or maybe drink in this case. The cocoa is creamy like latte. But the latte goes loco to finish all lavender! You just can’t imagine a milky chocolate-colored bud would mature to be a solid soft lavender blossom. Early to bloom, every lovely bud spirals open with impeccable show form. The flowers last long on the plant and in the vase. Beyond its novelty, there lies a great plant….rounded, handsome & bushy…chock full of clean green leaves.

Apple green it's not. But imagine a keylime cream color that lights up any landscape with oodles of luminous blooms. Although Irish in origin, she struts her stuff under Northern lights or in our steamy South. Dark glossy green leaves set off the creamy pastel flowers and pointed buds. Great in mass plantings, mixed into borders or abides perfectly well all alone.

Surely I could pick a bud—just one flower—and if I carried it very carefully, it would survive a few hours’ journey. These are so beautiful: They’re finer than any we had in our city garden—finer than any I’ve ever seen. So he stooped and plucked a bud of a rich red hue.

Perhaps the most known and recognizable characteristic of the plant is its thorns. Rose leaves have sharply-toothed edges and can grow, for lack of a better word, scraggly.
