predestinate to BE CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON; The goal is not Heaven, the goal is to be like Jesus. If you're like Jesus, Heaven is a given. This is how we distinguish ourselves from being "statistically indistinguishable" from secular society.
Perspective is critical for our well being. It is important to know that God is personally involved in the details of our lives...nothing escapes His notice (Matthew 6:32). But knowing that God has a plan for our future and that He can be trusted to work those details into that grand purpose is also critical (Romans 8:28-29). They are gloriously being shaped by our loving Heavenly Father so that we are molded into the image of His Son Jesus (Romans 8:29).
