Shine On You Crazy Diamond is a song by Pink Floyd, written by David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Richard Wright in 1974. The song is a poignant tribute to former band member Syd Barrett, who had left the group in 1968. The song was performed for the first time during the French tour, 1974, and the following year was included in the concept album Wish You Were Here 1975.
Roger Waters, Amused To Death****: For me, this is the first Waters album that actually sounds like a Waters album and not a potential Pink Floyd album. Sure, Pink Floyd could have made this (with all members), but I think that might have detracted from the effort. I'm not sure Gilmour could have contributed to the music here. That being said, this is the best of Waters' solo efforts. 11/19/14
