this week I thought I’d kick 2015 off with a great recipe for backstrap… my favorite cut of whitetail deer. The backstrap is cut from the top of the deer located on each side of the spine.

I personally am not a big fan on wild meat BUT my husband is!  With this recipe it doesn't taste 'gamey' at all. It's very tender as well.  I even go back for seconds!

My Venison Crockpot Stew.  So healthy and so good!  I used a backstrap 2 packages brown gravy mix 1 package Au Jus mix 2 1/2 cups of water Salt and pepper Crushed red pepper Put veggies you like in the bottom of the crockpot and meat on top Add mixes dissolved in warm water and season with salt and peppers. I cooked this for 5 hours in low.   Make sure your liquid is at least half way to the top.   You can thicken it with flour dissolved in water and cook an additional hour if you like.
