Orient Express – one of the most luxurious train, which runs between Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, the transportation of passengers through the beautiful rainforests, mountains and villages. Ticket price starts from 2300 dollars per person.
The price for both tickets was only $41 USD, but the train to Budapest from Ljubljana would take an astounding eight hours. We mentally prepared for the long haul and I made a list of things I could get done during the trip (like research Budapest, which I had failed – once again – to do in advance!).
As more and more people began to travel by train and more companies sprouted up to service them, accommodations began to shift to allow for lower ticket prices. This 1895 photo shows a standard "sleeping car" compartment where people would often sleep sitting up.
This poster is made of one hundred and sixty UK National Rail tickets, collected by Philipp Sokolov -- a frequent train commuter and a graphic design student from Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, London, over the course of two years. The price £1926.80 is a combined price of all tickets on the poster.
