Peabody Hotel, Memphis and the famous Peabody ducks. In the morning, this red carpet is rolled out, and a person dressed like a beefeater calls for the ducks, the elevator door opens, and out they come to the fountain where they hang out all day, and then it's reversed at night. Funny thing to watch, incredible hotel.
Edward Pembroke, Peabody Hotel's original Duckmaster and creator of the famous March of the Peabody Ducks. An animal trainer when he arrived at the Peabody in 1940, he trained the hotel's resident ducks to march on the red carpet to John Philip Sousa's "King Cotton March," earning him the title of Duckmaster, a position he held for 50 years.
