Once the trench was dug, we bought this paver sand. This material is used to provide a solid base for retaining walls and patios. If we had put the pavers directly on the dirt in the trench, it would eventually have settled and been uneven. The paver sand locks the blocks in place and prevents settling.
Wooden stairs built on a slope at my Church that leads up to the Prayer Labyrinth. I could not use pre-fab stairs since I needed a longer length. I use brick pavers for the steps and filled them with dirt, and paver sand to pack down and level. Used cement to hold posts in the ground. Railings are 2x4's with a railing top. I did not use nails in this project.
