"The Godmother of Punk" . Born Joan Marie Larkin in Pennsylvania in 1958, Joan Jett is a feminist icon with three albums which are gold or platinum selling. She began her career as a founding member of The Runaways. In 1979 she came to England to start a solo career, performing with Paul Cook and Steve Jones. She began The Blackhearts in 1980. She is a massive animal rights activist with close links to PETA and an advocate for vegetarian/vegan living.
