The Ultimate Travel Guide to Medellin; a City Re-Invented

Two decades after Pablo Escobar was killed, Medellin is now moving on and reinventing what was known as the world’s most dangerous and murderous city.

Kidnapping is very common in Colombia. In 1998, there were 2338 kidnappings in Colombia. Of the victims, 138 were killed by their captors. Ranked Fourth in the world for murders with 69.98/100000 in 2006, the popular targets are mayors, with dozens of them being killed each year. Colombia also supplies 75% of the world’s supply of cocaine and thanks to Pablo Escobar and the Cali Cartel, paramilitary groups have waged war on the government in a bloody conflict with no end in sight.

The bloodied body of Pablo Escobar lies on a Medellin rooftop where he was shot dead by members of the Colombian National Police "Search Bloc" who stand triumphantly around their kill 2nd December 1993 [500x304] http://ift.tt/2cB2DUH

TIL that when Pablo Escobars daughter wanted a unicorn he bought her a horse and stapled a cone to its head and wings to its back. The horse died from infection.
