Nearly 14 billion years ago, there was nothing and nowhere. Then, due to a random fluctuation in a completely empty void, a universe exploded into existence. Something the size of a subatomic particle inflated to unimaginably huge size in a fraction of a second, driven apart by negative-pressure vacuum energy. Scientists call this theory for the origin of the universe the Big Bang.
“Lately I’ve been thinking about origin myths. Creation ex nihilo, creation from the void, mythical creation, creation by God & creation by the Big Bang—I’m into all of them. I like dramatic beginnings with an explosion that can expand a universe into infinity & quieter ones that portend a world that runs itself out like a watch unwinding. It’s a writer’s way of looking at creation.. to believe that the beginning defines the ending, that how we start something tells us about how we will end…
The Origins of the Universe: the Big Bang The diagram here illustrates the main events occurring in the history of our Universe. The vertical time axis is not linear in order to show early events on a reasonable scale. The temperature rises as we go backwards in time towards the Big Bang and physical processes happen more rapidly. The timescales and temperatures indicated on this diagram span an enormous range.
This reminds me of that one AU Lauren Zuke made where Pearl is like some loner that plays the organ, Amethyst was a werewolf, and next door is a "garnetstein". Now with this all I can think of is a Garnetstein with her mad scientist creators who are madly in love and OOOOH I LIKE THIS AU NOW!
