National Geographic, 1985 Steve McCurry shot photo of young woman at a refugee camp in Pakistan for a story on "Along Afganistan's War-Torn Frontier." In 2002, McCurry and National Geographic returned to Pakistan to find the woman, which they did. The woman's name is Sharbat Gula. My FAVORITE picture of all time....haunting!
She remembers the moment. The photographer took her picture. She remembers her anger. The man was a stranger. She had never been photographed before. Until they met again 17 years later, she had not been photographed since.
