Paint It Blue: A New Wave Thai Restaurant in Vancouver by Christine Chang Hanway [This place is amazing. It has so many of my fave elements: plywood, wood, concrete, metal. . . I love the way they used commercial acrylic paint to stain the floor AND used a thine version on the construction-grade Douglas fir plywood. Then they used beech for the countertops and tables and I THINK galvanized metal for the table supports! Simply wonderful!]
Clear cabbage soup. I had to learn how to make this when it became a favorite at my Thai restaurant. Just a quart of water, half a chopped onion, half a head of nappa cabbage, some big slices of carrot, a couple cloves garlic and PLENTY of salt -- boiled for an hour. Add some onion powder or other spices if you want to spice it up a bit.
"I have made this recipe several times since pinching it. We love it! Tastes just like one of our Japanese steakhouse restaurants. Thanks so much for sharing... now my family can have Chinese take-out without leaving the house!"
