Ever taken a photo with Molly Malone? She’s a Dublin icon, honored both in statue and the song, 'Cockles and Mussels'. You might recognise the opening lines: "In Dublin’s fair city, where the girls are so pretty, I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone As she wheeled her wheel-barrow, through streets broad and narrow, Crying cockles and mussels, alive, alive-O!"
This sculpture nicknamed by Dubliners "Tart with the cart". Statue of Molly Malone in seventeenth-century dress by Jeanne Rynhart, Grafton Street, Dublin. Follow link for interesting article by Sean Murphy last updated 16 May 2013
