The London Underground celebrates its 150th anniversary this week. The "tube" made it's first journey from Paddington to Farringdon Street along the Metropolitan Line on 9 January 1863, and on it's first day the line transported an astounding 40,000 passengers (pictured). Today some 4 million journeys are made every day.
