Metallica, Live at Espace Balard: This tasty bit of vinyl came to me as part of the Expanded Edition Boxed Set of Metallica's first album, "Kill 'em All." Though there is a rawness in this that is the sound of young men beating on their chests and pissing on their territory to let everyone know that this is mine, there's also a maturity and presence in this that says "we got this." And the sound here is exquisitely live in its grit and DYI essence. 11/18/16

Okay...I'm not really one to let things "make me feel old." But.... Metallica's first album turned 31 today! F**k!!

The iconic jagged lettering was created for Metallica's first album 'Kill Em All' by singer/guitarist James Hetfield in 1983. Controversially, it was changed to a blander version for 1996's 'Load' album - although the stabbing 'M' and 'A' were reinstated for 2003's 'St Anger'.

Metallica, Still Thrashing but Comfortably Adult

With its first studio album in eight years, Metallica is reclaiming the attack of its music while jettisoning the image of a band as young, fast and out of control.

Metallica Kill Em All f***ing brutal. it's incredible how fully realized they were from the first album. it was a new vision of metal. every song is a classic. one of the best metal albums, and one of the best albums, of all time.
