Even latex balloons, which are touted as biodegrading as "fast as an oak leaf" can take up to 6 months to degrade and kill sharks, whales, dolphins, turtles, etc. in the meantime. Plants, small trees, reusable banners, kites, etc. are all eco-friendly alternatives to balloons.
